Search Engine Optimization Tools
SEO Tools can range from very useful to almost useless. There are some that are used by all webmasters who know about SEO and there are some that are only known to those who happen to find them. You can find a great deal of SEO tools on the different information sites and forums around the internet. Many come from people who have either found a new tool or made it themselves. As I said before they can range in their effectiveness or usefulness but it is a good idea to check them all out and see which ones work best for you. Many do similar things, but you may find that one has a little bit better feature than another. Of course, many of the commercial ones will have many more features than their Freeware counterpart, but they are well worth the price usually. We will be highlighting some of the best Freeware and Commercial SEO tools below. Some are based off of a website and won't be necessary to run on your system. You may end up having to subscribe to their service to gain access to the most useful tools though. We hope that the tools we have found will help you get your website listing for the terms you are shooting for.
Freeware SEO Tools
Keyword Suggestion Tools
Digitalpoint Keyword Suggestion Tool
The Keyword Suggestion tool provided by Digital Point Solutions allows you to quickly search the Overture and Wordtracker databases for the amount of times per day your keywords have been searched. The only problem with this tool is that it is outdated as the data from Overture is from Jan 2007. You can still get a good idea of how many times a day something is searched though. You can search for a keyword or phrase below.
SEOChat Google Keyword Suggestion
This is another fairly good tool to use to pinpoint what keywords you want to use on your website if you plan on targeting Google for search. Depending on how many different ways you can say your keywords, you can end up with a nice list pretty quickly. We have embedded the tool into our website for your convenience.

SEOChat Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool
This tool should bring the exact same results as the Digitalpoint tool. It is pulling from the same Overture database and thus is still out of date. The data in this search is more like the actual Overture stats as the data is shown in searches per month. We have embedded this tool as well below. We hope you find it useful.

Keyword Ranking Tools
Digitalpoint Keyword Ranking and Tracking Tool
Another great tool from Digitalpoint, their Ranking tool can track the progress of your keywords on the top 3 search engines. It requires a SOAP API key to track on Google and a certain PHP file to track keywords on Yahoo and MSN. You can find some SOAP API keys floating around on the net if you look hard enough. I hope to be able to provide the script some day that will allow your keywords to be tracked on Yahoo and MSN. For now, you can use the tool below.

Other SEO Keyword Tools
SEOChat Keyword Cloud Tool
This tool gives you a good idea of how your keywords are used on your page. It gives a cloud view along with a list of the keywords on the page along with the amount of times used and the percentage of each. This is a very useful SEO tool for determining the under usage of your keywords or over usage of them on a specific page. It can also be used to determine the best keyword to target for your directory listings or other backlinks that you might get.

SEOChat Keyword Density Checker
A keyword density checker is another great tool to see how well you are using your keywords on the pages within your website. It can show you if you are using your keywords too much, or not enough. A must have for anyone who is trying to shoot to stay within the happy medium of keyword usage. Spamming your keywords can hurt your rankings and thus actually do more bad than good if you overuse them on your page.

SEOChat Keyword Difficulty Checker
This tool is great for checking out to see how difficult it will be to rank for your keyword. It is not an exact science, but it can give you a ballpark figure of how difficult it will be to list for your top keywords.
